Pilot Whales Win, 6-0, as Morales Mystifies Cranston
Thursday, August 14th , 1913
Newport Pilot Whales hurler Octavio Morales was stingy with runs in his latest outing against the Cranston Madonnas, shutting them out, 6-0, on 6 hits.
"Octavio was very aggressive tonight," Newport manager Pablo Morales said. "He threw everything he had with a lot of confidence."
Through 9 innings, Morales tallied 10 strikeouts and allowed 1 walk.
"He was throwing strikes with all his pitches and mixing it up well," losing manager Nepomuceno Díaz said. "Morales has a sneaky fastball, and whatever that off-speed pitch was, it was keeping our timing off."
This year, Morales has compiled a 20-8 record with a 2.17 ERA in 29 starts.
