Number 500 for Pérez Sunday, July 20th , 1913 What a day for Florentino Pérez. The 21-year-old Camuy second baseman reached the 500-hit mark today and the Ermitanos whipped the San Sebastian Husares 9-7. Pérez told reporters, "It's good to finally get it. The closer you get to 500, the harder it is to get there. Now the pressure is off and I can go back to just playing ball." He went 3 for 6 in the game to reach the milestone. Pérez has a career .281 batting average and .322 on-base percentage. He has recorded 502 hits with 85 doubles, 24 triples, 24 homers, 183 RBIs and scored 230 runs since coming into the league.
