Prodoprigora Too Tough, Blanks Hatillo
Saturday, August 30th , 1913
The Hatillo Tritones manager was philosophical in the clubhouse following a shutout loss to the Quebradillas Escondidos. The Tritones were overpowered by Quebradillas starter Simon Prodoprigora, who hurled his club to victory, 4-0.
"It was just one of those games -- shake it off and do better next time," Israel López said.
Over 9 innings, Prodoprigora blanked Hatillo on 3 hits with 3 walks and 8 strikeouts.
"I kept them off balance. I could tell a lot of them were late on fastballs because they were fouling them off. Once you see that, it sets them up for other pitches," Prodoprigora said.
"I set them up, where if they chased one breaking ball, they were going to chase another one."
On his stats sheet for the year Prodoprigora shows a 7-9 record, 19 starts, 151.2 innings, 100 strikeouts and a 3.15 ERA.
