Villarreal Crafts 4-0 Shutout Versus Maricao Sunday, August 31st , 1913 The Maricao Ristretti were almost helpless in their 4-0 loss to the Santa Isabel Petisos and hurler Matías Villarreal. Villarreal kept the Ristretti confused all game, spinning a 1-hit shutout. "Tip your hat to Villarreal," Maricao manager Lorenzo García said in a postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night." The 22-year-old right-hander had 2 walks and 4 strikeouts in a strong performance. "It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Villarreal said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way." On the season, Villarreal has compiled a 7-10 mark with a 4.42 ERA in 17 starts.
