LMB Best Manager Picked, San Juan's Cummings Winner Saturday, October 25th , 1913 Barclay Cummings celebrated a successful season with the San Juan Ciudadanos by hosting team officials and select media at a San Juan area first-class eatery. But when he first came to town, the 1913 Liga Mariana Bracetti Manager of the Year was met with a good measure of skepticism. "Very few people believed in our ballclub when I got here. It just goes to show you that a bunch of talented ballplayers playing together can make any old manager a genius," a modest Cummings joked, not fully recognizing his own stature in the baseball community. However, baseball journalists duly noted his managerial skill as he skippered the Ciudadanos to a 67-29 record this year and a first place finish in the Liga Mariana Bracetti División Arturo Schomburg. |
