Maturin Shuts Out Nueva Esparta, 4-0 Wednesday, September 3rd , 1913 Eunice Engana of the Maturin Petroleros humiliated the Nueva Esparta Cunaguaros at Campo de los Petroleros, spinning a complete game shutout and holding the visitors to 2 hits. "He stayed aggressive and his ball was really moving," said Nueva Esparta manager Nicolás Vásquez, after the game. Engana whiffed 2 and walked 2 in the 4-0 win. "If I make good pitches, I'm going to get some outs," Engana said. "I was making good pitches the entire game." To date this year, in 31 starts, Engana has crafted a 17-7 mark with a 2.63 ERA.
