Cumana Takes Campeonato de las Ligas Monday, September 29th , 1913 The Cumana Atunes triumphed 5-4 over the Maturin Petroleros at Campo de los Petroleros in the Campeonato de las Ligas to capture it 4-2. The victory advanced the Atunes to the Campeonato Nacional de Venezuela. For his superb play in the series, Atunes first baseman Ranulfo Bedevia garnered the series MVP trophy, hitting .500, scoring 4 runs and batting in 4. "Only thing better than getting MVP for winning in the playoffs would be winning MVP for winning in the Campeonato Nacional de Venezuela," Bedevia said later. "I'll get to work on that."
