Southern League Selects Best Performer

Etelfrido Valdez swung a blistering bat last week for Nagasaki, rapping out 11 hits in 18 at-bats against Kamo opponents to propel himself to the Southern League Player of the Week Award.
Whenever the first baseman hit the ball, he hit it with authority. The 32-year-old racked up a .611 batting average with no home runs, 5 RBIs and 4 runs scored.
This year, Valdez has no home runs and a .339 batting average.
