Kip Selbach Named SL's Best Player Wednesday, September 15th , 1909 Kip Selbach, the talented Fukuyama third baseman, certainly made his name known among Southern League hurlers this season. He hammered them for 142 hits, 34 doubles, 7 triples, 4 home runs, 53 RBIs and scored 83 times. That kind of output made him the choice for Southern League Nobushige for 1909. He received 16 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Junichi Koishizawa of the Yamatokoriyama Kingyo finished second in voting, while Billy Nash of the Matsuyama Kawauso finished third.
