Maddox Pitches Gem as Kamo Beat Kagoshima, 5-0
Tuesday, July 28th , 1914
Nick Maddox hurled a fine game for the Nagasaki Kamo at Teitoku Park, holding the Kagoshima Teitoku to 3 hits in a shutout win.
"When he started out, his command wasn't that good, but he's a tough guy," Nagasaki manager Veloso Haldane said. "The more pitches he throws, the better his command is."
The right-hander had 7 strikeouts and 5 walks in the 5-0 victory.
"An outstanding job," Kagoshima manager Cristián Morales said. "We couldn't get anything going. Every time we got a hit, he got out of the jam. He pitched a terrific game."
On his stats sheet this season, Maddox shows a 19-13 record, 33 starts, 267.2 innings, 128 strikeouts and a 4.34 ERA.
