Harold Armitage Nabs Best Player Trophy
Tuesday, September 15th , 1914
At the age of 23, Harold Armitage of the Niigata Hakuchoh could very well have his best years ahead of him.

It's a startling thought when you consider the year he had in 1914 was good enough to win the third baseman the Northern League Nobushige.

"See the ball, hit the ball," he said. "That's my basic approach."

The top hitter put up a .354 batting average this year, as well as a .409 on-base percentage. He played 118 games and racked up 162 hits, 36 doubles, 8 triples, 1 home run, 62 RBIs and 75 runs scored.

He received 13 first place votes out of a possible 16. Vic Cook of the Aomori Hotaru finished second in voting with 1 first place vote, while Neftalí Rodríguez of the Hakodate Daiouika finished third with 1 first place vote.
