Martilleros Over Libertadores, 4-2

Coliseo Emeterio García was the site of a competitive game between the Guaynabo Libertadores and Vega Alta Martilleros.
The Vega Alta Martilleros knocked off the Guaynabo Libertadores, 4-2, in Liga Betances action at Coliseo Emeterio García. Vega Alta pitcher and Bayamón, Puerto Rico, native Miqueas Álvarez had an outstanding performance. Picking up the save was 25-year old right-handed pitcher Avelino Guillén.
Julio Briones had a big run-scoring triple for the Martilleros in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Vega Alta leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a slider from 28-year old right-handed pitcher Jesús Vega and swatted a triple to right. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Martilleros ahead, 2-0.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Martilleros manager Ladislao Rodríguez. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
The win gives Vega Alta a record of 1-3.
