Oceania Lose, 4-0, to Tricolores, Tavárez
Monday, December 31st , 1906
Mexico Tricolores starter Senén Tavárez really did a number on the Oceania Neptunes, shutting them out, 4-0, on 7 hits in a complete game victory. He issued 2 walks and had 6 strikeouts.
"We didn't have good at-bats," said Oceania manager Scrappy Carroll. "I don't make excuses, but when we were playing the game, our energy didn't show. That comes from either extremely good pitching or extremely lousy hitting and seeing as our team has a bunch of good hitters, I have to tip my cap to Tavárez."

Rehab Road Tough for Tejedores Abilio Nava
Monday, December 31st , 1906
Abilio Nava was taking it slow and easy nursing bone chips in his elbow back to good health, when he suffered a setback. According to a Sabana Grande team official, "Abilio was making excellent progress and it appeared he would return to the squad ahead of schedule. But then he reinjured it in a light workout." Club doctors now say the 22-year-old Tejedores starting pitcher will be out at least another 6 weeks.
On his lifetime ledger sheet, the 22-year-old Nava has won 36 and lost 35 with a 2.60 ERA.
