Thunder Bay Sleeping Giants starter Nicolás Lerma had all his pitches working at Thunder Bay Grounds. His stellar performance paved the way for an easy 9-2 Thunder Bay win over the Sault Ste. Marie Rapids. The third-place Sleeping Giants now sit at 57-54.

Raúl Díaz had a big 2-run double for the Sleeping Giants in the bottom of the third inning. With Thunder Bay leading 2-0 and the bases loaded, he got a circle change from Pánfilo Zavala, who is tied for 6th in the OBA with a 1.20 WHIP, and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 26th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Sleeping Giants ahead, 4-0.

"We'll need a much better effort, the next time out," said losing manager Álvaro López.
