The Ponce Senores got a rain-soaked win over the Utuado Arribenos.
The Senores grabbed a win, 1-0, at Coliseo Miguel Flores, overcoming a fine effort from Utuado pitcher Plácido Polanco. Polanco went 8.2 innings and allowed 1 run. Timoteo Muriel went 7 innings, allowing no runs on 6 hits. The left-hander struck out 1 and walked 0. With the win, he ups his record to 12-3 this season.
Ponce shortstop Andre Hadden contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the third. With two down, he hit a fastball to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 119th hit of the season and put the Senores ahead, 1-0.
"Not everyone likes pitching duels," said Hadden. "But I do."
Ponce, now 94-47, holds down first place in the Liga Hostos Metro Sur.
