Yauco's Argueta Reaches 1000 Hits
It was a great day for Herminio Argueta of the Yauco Corsos -- but not a perfect day. He became the latest player to reach the 1000-hit mark, but his team lost the game. The 28-year-old center fielder got his hit in Yauco's 3-0 loss to Penuelas.

"It was a very special game for me, but not a good one for the team," said Argueta after the game. Commenting on his achievement to reporters, he told them, "1000 hits are a lot. It puts you in a very select group. You have to hit well over a lot of seasons to do this. It's a good feeling to have your name in the record books with the other guys who have reached this level."

He finished the day with 2 hits in 4 at-bats.

In his 1004-game career Argueta has hit .262 with 1001 hits, 16 home runs, and 415 RBIs and has scored 382 runs.
