The Trujillo Alto Macabeos got a superb performance from pitcher Germán Bencosme, but the Mayaguez Capitanes still won the game, 2-1. Bencosme threw 9.0 innings of 7-hit ball. Mayaguez is now 82-61, while Trujillo Alto is 57-88.

Byron Wood chipped in for Mayaguez, stroking a crucial run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning. For the game, the left fielder went 2-4 with a double.

"The tide will turn," said losing manager Eufemio Sinche. "We just need to keep our chins up."
