Cabo Rojo got a decent performance from pitcher Luis Sánchez, but it wasn't enough to beat the Vega Alta Martilleros. Vega Alta won the Estadio Juan Rodríguez contest, 4-3. Sánchez threw 9.1 innings of 7-hit ball for the losing team. The third-place Martilleros have won 4 straight.

Zabulón Alfaro provided a timely hit. The Vega Alta left fielder delivered a run-scoring triple in the top of the 13th inning to put the Martilleros on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in the game, but he made it count.

"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Alfaro said after the game.
