Cirilo García of the Aguada Arzobispos was on top of his game.

The 27-year-old tantalized the Rio Grande Cotorras with crisp curves and changeups, mixed in with just enough fastballs to keep the batters honest, shutting them out, 3-0.

"He had the changeup working," Rio Grande manager Serapión Gutiérrez said in postgame comments. "You knew it was coming and you still grounded out -- and then he threw it even slower."

The Aguada hurler had 5 strikeouts, gave up 3 walks and surrendered 6 hits in his complete-game effort.

García told reporters after the game that "keeping the ball down is the key to being successful in this league."

"If you don't do that, they'll make you pay," he said.

So far this season, García has logged a 19-12 record with a 2.53 ERA. He has started 39 games, hurled 326.2 innings and registered 143 strikeouts and 105 walks.
