Mayaguez pitcher Ronit Robinson did his part in helping his team beat the Vieques Esqueletos, 3-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. The second-place Esqueletos dropped to 65-102.

Mayaguez designated hitter Anaximandro González contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a sinker to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 86th hit of the season and put the Capitanes ahead, 3-0.

Vieques manager Leo Rosales said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
