Vejigantes Hitless Against Rodríguez
|
Trujillo Alto is abuzz in the wake of a masterful no-hitter by Javier Rodríguez.
The 29-year-old hurler was dominating against the Loiza Vejigantes, leading the Macabeos to a 3-0 win at Coliseo Tomás Escalante.
"I could tell early on that it was going to be a long day for us," Loiza manager Luis Padilla said afterward. "He made us look real bad. He was that good. And still going strong at the end of the game."
Rodríguez had 3 strikeouts and gave up 2 walks en route to the no-hitter.
"Yeah, this was a special day for me," Rodríguez said. "I had my good stuff and good movement. Good location, too. Even when I made a mistake, I got away with it today."
So far in 9 appearances this season, Rodríguez has recorded 3 wins and sustained 4 losses. He has pitched 60.2 innings, yielded 55 hits, fanned 16 and has a 2.82 ERA.
