The Barranquitas Ilustres locked up a win at Estadio Plinio Cortez, knocking off the Corozal Mofongueros, 3-0. On the mound for Barranquitas was right-hander Calímaco Agostino. He played a major role in the triumph. The Ilustres now have a record of 66-83 with the win over Corozal.
Timón Cerda came through for Barranquitas when he hit a run-scoring single in the bottom of the fifth. With runners on 2nd and 3rd, he hit a two-strike slider to center field, staking his team to a 1-0 lead.
Cerda said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.
