Capitanes Get Past Caguas, 4-3
The Mayaguez Capitanes picked up a win at Campo Atlético de Caguas, knocking off the Caguas Coquis, 4-3. On the mound for Mayaguez was right-hander Hortensio Galicia. He played a key role in the triumph. Galicia, who finished 3rd in the LH in wins with 31 in 1905, went the distance for Mayaguez. He gave up 3 runs on 10 hits. Mayaguez is now 87-63. Caguas is 69-83.

Mayaguez won the game in part because of Curro Orozco. The right fielder ripped a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Capitanes ahead, 4-3. For the game, Orozco had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.

Orozco said, "Whether you hit the ball hard, you walk, you have a long at-bat, 10 or 12 pitches, or you hit a homer, you're just trying to do anything you can do to help the team win."
