The game between Maricao and Canovanas is in the books, despite a little rain.
The Maricao Cafeteros earned a close win over the Canovanas Chupacabras, thanks in part to Absalón Rodríguez. The Maricao right-hander played a key role in the 3-2 victory. Maricao is now 96-54, while Canovanas is 66-86.
The game was at a stalemate until second baseman Enrique Medina came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Canovanas pitcher Fernando Mota, he hit a 2-2 sinker for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Maricao on top, 3-2.
"I expect to carry this team on my shoulders at times," said Medina.
