Camuy Makes Lajas 7-5 Losers
|
The rain made it unbearable at times; nonetheless, the faithful who endured the elements enjoyed themselves.
Camuy Murcielagos starter Tomás Pérez pitched a strong game against the Lajas Marcianos at Estadio Víctor Nieves, leading the Murcielagos to victory, 7-5. Ubaldo Flores snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed 4 runs on 3 hits over 3.2 innings. He's now 8-5 on the season.
Had Ignacio Aranda not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Aranda hit a 2-run single. That made the score 7-5, in favor of the Murcielagos.
"Main thing is I want the team to win," Pérez told a reporter after the game. "Just have to go out there, take care of my job, and give my team a chance to win."
With the win, Camuy has a record of 104-51. Lajas falls to 66-91.
