Cotorras Winners, 8-2, Over Caciques
|
The Rio Grande Cotorras thumped the Orocovis Caciques, 8-2, at Recinto Atlético del Noreste. Raúl Alzate was a big reason his team got the win. Alzate was 4-5 with a triple and 3 singles. He drove in 4 runs. Julio Ochoa, who leads the LB in quality starts with 36, was the winning pitcher. Over 9 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 7 hits, with 2 walks and 7 strikeouts. The Cotorras sit in first place in the Liga Betances El Yunque with a record of 96-61.
Alzate contributed a big hit, a bases-clearing triple, for Rio Grande in the bottom of the first. With his team trailing 1-0, Alzate took a fastball from Tristán Rodríguez and stroked the triple to left-center. His 12th triple of the season allowed the Cotorras to leap in front, 3-1.
"We didn't pitch good, and when you don't pitch good, you lose," said Orocovis manager Jorge Vega.
