The home crowd had a good time watching the Culebra Tortugas and Vieques Esqueletos get after it.
The Culebra Tortugas went down to defeat to Pablo Rivera and his Vieques teammates. The final score was 4-2, in favor of the Esqueletos. In 8.1 innings, Rivera surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 1 and walking 4. He allowed 2 runs.
Diego Delgado had a big 2-run double for the Esqueletos in the bottom of the third inning. With Vieques leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a curveball from 26-year old right-handed pitcher Cristóbal Andrade and swatted a double to right. It was his 18th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Esqueletos ahead, 3-0.
"The only difference is executing pitches and not executing pitches," said Rivera. "When you don't execute, you get beat. When you execute, you usually give your team a chance to win."
Vieques now sits at 74-80, while Culebra falls to 56-101.
