The Adjuntas Santos picked up a win at Estadio Hernán García, courtesy of Vicente Ruvalcaba. The right-hander helped his team stop the Gurabo Tainos, 1-0. In 8.2 innings, Ruvalcaba surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 3. He allowed no runs.
The Tainos had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Santos going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 30-year old first baseman Raúl Rodríguez came to the plate. Rodríguez hit a run-scoring double on a full count changeup from Gurabo hurler Alfonso Luján. It was Rodríguez's 22nd double of the year.
"You never take a win for granted in this league," said Rodríguez.
The Santos are now 63-97.
