Tainos Lose Late to Ilustres
Gurabo got a decent performance from pitcher Nuño González, but it wasn't enough to beat the Barranquitas Ilustres. Barranquitas won the Coliseo Municipal de Gurabo contest, 5-2. González threw 9.0 innings of 7-hit ball for the losing team. Efraín Cantú picked up the win in relief for Barranquitas, while Nuño González took the loss. The Ilustres are now 67-92.

Barranquitas used the timely hitting of Telégono Sánchez to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Ilustres on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"That's how you're going to be successful," said Ilustres manager Belisario Mesa. "It starts with pitching and it will always be pitching."
