Amigos Get Extra-Inning, 4-3 Win
|
Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the Guanica Amigos and Anasco Matadioses.
The Guanica Amigos picked up a win at Estadio Noé Martínez, knocking off the Anasco Matadioses, 4-3, in 11 innings. Starting pitcher Eunosto Gutiérrez played a key role in the triumph. Cid Maldonado sewed up the save, his 24th.
The 41-year-old Gutiérrez turned in a performance that had his younger teammates taking notes. Gutiérrez rang up 2 strikeouts and held the Matadioses to 5 hits over 10.2 innings. Gutiérrez is now 15-20 on the year with 128 strikeouts.
"Our offense was purring," said Guanica manager Ángel de la Torre. "Like a well-oiled machine."
The first-place Amigos hiked their record to 91-76.
