Capitanes Edge Arribenos, 3-2, to Open SP
|
The Mayaguez Capitanes powered past the hometown Utuado Arribenos, 3-2, in the opener of the Serie Preliminar at Coliseo Miguel Flores. Mayaguez starting pitcher Ronit Robinson threw 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball, to lead the charge. The Capitanes now lead the series 1-0.
In the top of the seventh, with the game tied, the Arribenos allowed the Capitanes to take a 3-2 lead on a base hit and Utuado error.
"Every loss hurts," said Utuado manager Louis Gutteridge. "But this was a tough one."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Coliseo Miguel Flores in Utuado.
