Mayaguez Wins at Home to Take 2-1 Lead in SP
The Mayaguez Capitanes moved to within one game of the Serie Eliminatoria, downing the visiting Utuado Arribenos at Coliseo Atlético del Oeste by a score of 7-5. Capitanes right-hander Hortensio Galicia had a strong outing in which he threw 6.2 innings allowing 2 runs. The win gives the Capitanes a 2-1 advantage in the best-of-5 Serie Preliminar.

An inflection point occurred with one out in the bottom of the eighth. That's when Capitanes pinch hitter Abrám García hit a fastball from Gabriel Morales for a 2-run single. Just like that, Mayaguez was up, 6-5.

"I was trying to do what I do, go out there and compete," said Galicia.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Coliseo Atlético del Oeste in Mayagüez.
