Colonels Get Clutch Win, 4-3
The Louisville Colonels had to overcome a fine effort from Cleveland pitcher Walter Thornton to win, 4-3, at Eclipse Park II. Thornton went 7.1 innings and allowed 4 runs. Alex Pearson claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 2 runs on 5 hits in 3.2 innings. His record stands at 1-0. Brad Drain earned the save, his 2nd.

A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the eighth, with the game tied, Ducky Holmes was at the plate when Louisville scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Colonels to go in front, 4-3.

Afterward, Cleveland manager Bill Morgan said: "We've hit a rough patch."

After losing, Cleveland is 3-7.
