Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the Yauco Corsos and Salinas Pescadores.
The Yauco Corsos picked up a win at Coliseo Carlos Chávez, knocking off the Salinas Pescadores, 5-3. On the mound for Yauco was right-hander Virgilio González. He played a key role in the triumph. With this game in the books, Yauco is 17-22, Salinas 21-16.
The game was at a stalemate until second baseman Alberto Monroy came to bat in the top of the eighth. Facing Salinas pitcher Damián Medina, he hit a 2-2 changeup for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Yauco on top, 4-3.
