Rose Stockings Come Back Late, Nip Maples

Despite the rain, the fans at The Rosebush enjoyed a good ballgame.
The Mentor Rose Stockings defeated the Norwalk Maples, 4-3, in Eastern Great Lakes Association action at The Rosebush. Mentor pitcher Red Ames had a standout performance. With the loss, Norwalk sinks to 1-1.
Had Elijah Mann not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Mann hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Rose Stockings.
"Both teams played hard," said Mentor manager Carl Purchase.
