The Oswego Hydropathists beat the Utica Half Moons, 8-7, in part because of shortstop Félix Loño. He was 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times. The loss has the Half Moons at 0-2.

The defining moment came in the bottom of the ninth for Oswego. That's when Alfredo Pérez hit a run-scoring double off 28-year old right-handed pitcher Carlos Sosa to win the game. The home crowd went wild.

"It was bedlam at the end," Loño said.
