Whalebacks Send Sault St. Marie Home with 6-1 Loss
Guillermo García, who is tied for 8th in the WGLA with a 3.45 ERA, propelled his team to victory over the Sault St. Marie Rapids. The final score was 6-1, Superior. García yielded 1 run over 8.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 3, and struck out 9. His record improves to 3-1. The win gives the Whalebacks a record of 9-7.

The Rapids had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Whalebacks going into the top of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 31-year old left fielder Menendo Pérez came to the plate. Pérez hit a run-scoring triple on a 2-0 curveball from Sault St. Marie hurler Nicolás Rodríguez. It was Pérez's 1st triple of the year.

"Guillermo was able to locate to both sides, up and down," said Superior manager Dewey McDougal.
