Villalba Befuddled by Martínez in 2-0 Loss
The Bayamon Lecheros did little to support starter Édgar Martínez against the Villalba Mercaderes, but it turned out he didn't need the help.

The right-hander spun a complete game shutout against the Mercaderes, striking out 3 and surrendering 3 hits. The performance from Martínez allowed Bayamon to escape with the 2-0 win, despite an anemic offense.

"Nobody came to me and said, 'Édgar, we're gonna need you to win this one for us today,' but I could feel it," Martínez told BNN reporters following the win. "I'm the guy that will step up for you when you need it."

To date this year, in 10 starts, Martínez has crafted a 3-6 mark with a 3.24 ERA.
