Lilac Stockings Take Tight Tangle
Juan Rodríguez pitched well, but the Syracuse Halites still lost the game, falling, 3-2, to the Rochester Lilac Stockings at Salt City Park. Jaime Mejía notched the win in relief. Rochester used the timely hitting of Balbino Fornaris to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Lilac Stockings on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
