The Marquette Smelters downed the Superior Whalebacks, 6-5, at Edmund Fitzgerald Park. The Smelters were led by Veloso Rivera. Rivera was 3-5 with a triple and a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Marquette is now 21-16, while Superior is 19-18.

With one out in the top of the seventh, Grant Underhill had a game-changing hit. The Smelters shortstop slammed a run-scoring single off Guillermo García, making the score 5-3, Marquette.
