Tulips Handle Wanderers, Grab 4-3 Win
|
The Holland Tulips topped the Escanaba Wanderers, 4-3, in Western Great Lakes Association action at Sunlit Garden. The game was highlighted by the performance of Holland pitcher Danilo Portillo. Portillo, now 2-4, was the winner. In 5.1 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 4, walking 4, and allowing 3 runs. Roberto Leal wrapped it up, recording his 1st save.
Alberto Briseño hit a run-scoring triple off Hiram Sierra in the bottom of the fifth, which put the Tulips in front, 3-2. Briseño had 1 single, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 2 for 4.
Portillo attributed the triumph to "a good team effort."
After today's action, Holland sits at 17-21, while Escanaba falls to 20-18.
