Skidding Partridges Lose 7th Straight
The Alpena Partridges could not turn a fine performance from catcher Brad Smith into a win. Instead, the Bad Axe Stoplights prevailed, 9-8. Smith went 2 for 4 with a home run, while scoring 2 times and driving in 5. Beany Jacobson snagged the win in relief. The left-hander allowed 1 run on 5 hits over 3.2 innings. He's now 4-6 on the season. The Stoplights win now puts them at 20-21.

In the bottom of the 8th, designated hitter Valeriano Pérez gave Bad Axe the lead when he hit a 2-run single. The Stoplights had been trailing 8-7, but the two-out single off Alpena pitcher Michael Denis changed that -- and Bad Axe went on to win.

"This game is going to humble you at times and you've got to man up and deal with it," said Alpena manager Oscar Naranjo.
