The Utica Half Moons withstood a fine game by Syracuse third baseman Daigo Nakajima at Salt City Park, to upend the Halites, 8-7. Nakajima was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 and driving in 3. Francisco López got the win, improving to 8-2. He pitched 7.1 innings, giving up 13 hits and 6 runs, while striking out 2 and walking 0. Picking up his 4th save was 31-year old left-handed pitcher Germán García.

The Half Moons extended their lead in the top of the fifth. With one out and the bases loaded, Sotero Gurrola hit a sacrifice fly to make it 8-1, Utica.

Gurrola said afterward that he was glad to contribute to the win.

With the win over Syracuse, the Half Moons improved to 24-21.
