Late Offense Lifts Saginaw to 7-6 Victory
Birds' Nest of Alpena was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Saginaw Joes and Alpena Partridges.

Alpena center fielder Joe Cassidy had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Cassidy went 3-4 with a home run and a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once, even as Saginaw beat the Partridges, 7-6. Saginaw reliever Duarte Sánchez was the winner. His record is now 3-0. The losing pitcher was Uranio Avitia. Heraclio Salas recorded his 2nd save for Saginaw.

Saginaw used the timely hitting of Tito Pasos to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Joes on top, 7-6. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Pasos said.

Their 30-17 record puts the Joes first in the Western Great Lakes Association League of Lake Huron.
