The home crowd had a good time watching the Bad Axe Stoplights and Bay City Sugar Beets get after it.

The Bay City Sugar Beets faced a tough opponent in Bad Axe pitcher Brent Forsberg, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Candysweet Park by a final score of 8-4. Forsberg went 5.1 innings and allowed 1 run. Douggie Coleman picked up the win with 8.2 innings of work. He allowed 4 runs on 14 hits, while walking 5 and striking out 0. On the season, he is now 5-8.

Mike Gant had a big 2-run double for the Sugar Beets in the bottom of the second inning. With Bay City leading 2-0 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from 38-year old right-handed pitcher Inocencio Pérez and swatted a double to right. It was his 9th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Sugar Beets ahead, 4-0.

Gant told the Bay City News: "Don't care what other people think. Mike knows who Mike is."

The Sugar Beets now have a record of 22-32.
