The Norwalk Maples defeated the Meadville Zips, 10-9, at XYZ Stadium. Norwalk was led by 25-year old shortstop Eddie Brûlé, who went 2-5 with a home run and a double, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Julián Rey, the winning pitcher, improved to 5-9. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 3 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 2 and walking 8. Norwalk, at 22-39, sits in last place in the Eastern Great Lakes Association League of Lake Erie.

With Norwalk leading 6-2 in the top of the fifth, Brûlé batted against Meadville pitcher Venancio Rivera. Brûlé hit a fastball to center for a grand slam home run. His 2nd home run of the season put the Maples on top, 10-2.

"It was a good night for them and a bad night for us," said Meadville manager Ken Roy.
