London Loses, 3-2, to Sarnia in 13

The Sarnia Roughnecks got a stellar effort from pitcher Vicente Herrera, helping Sarnia score a win over the visiting London Regulars, 3-2, in 13 innings. Their 30-31 record puts the Roughnecks 4th in the Eastern Great Lakes Association Canadian Independent Baseball.
The decisive blow was delivered by Ron Hamlyn in the bottom of the 13th when he hit a solo home run off 26-year old left-handed pitcher Brian Dewolfe to win the game for Sarnia. The home crowd went nuts.
During his postgame press conference, Roughnecks manager Tricky Nichols told reporters that he expected a tight game from the get-go. "This had the potential to go down to the wire, and it certainly didn't disappoint," he said, later quipping, "it might've been a little less nerve-racking if I had been watching the game from my couch!"
