Joes Use Late Surge to Win
The Saginaw Joes racked up a win at Birds' Nest of Alpena, bumping off the Alpena Partridges, 6-3, in 14 innings. Jack Stivetts, who started for Saginaw, pitched effectively for his team. Saginaw raised its record to 48-20 with the win.

Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Induciomaro Ávila? The 24-year old third baseman Ávila stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 14th inning to put Saginaw up, 4-3. For the game, he was 4 for 7, including 1 double and 3 singles.

"I'm a bit of a clubhouse prankster," said Ávila. "But it's all business when we're on the field."
