Sugar Beets Throttle Stoplights, 5-1

The Bay City Sugar Beets rode a solid performance from 31-year-old starting pitcher Fernando Cerda to a win, beating the Bad Axe Stoplights, 5-1, at Candysweet Park. Bay City bumps their record to 31-35 with the win.
Lane Komperda had a big run-scoring double for the Sugar Beets in the bottom of the third inning. With Bay City leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a cutter from 31-year old right-handed pitcher Alberto Muñoz and swatted a double to right. It was his 13th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Sugar Beets ahead, 2-0.
"I always go out there hoping to contribute," said Komperda.
