The Cincinnati Reds knocked off the Cleveland Spiders, 5-0, in Western League action at League Park I. Cincinnati pitcher and The United States, native George Mullin had an outstanding performance. Mullin got the win, improving to 8-3. He gave up 4 hits and walked 3 over 8 innings. He allowed no runs. With the win over Cleveland, the Reds improved to 31-18.

Cincinnati used a well-timed hit by George Burns to capture the win. The first baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Reds ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

"George just settled in and did what he does," said Cincinnati manager Marshall Locke.
